I'm late on the bandwagon, but after reading the recent news (when I say recent, I mean March 2018) about Daniel Kaluuya (star of Get Out and you might see him in Black Panther) who wore the infamous Fenty Beauty foundation for the 2018 Oscars Red Carpet, I was blown away.

'Is that man even wearing foundation?'- I thought. His face was flawless. Don't believe me, just Google it. Mind blown. You can't even tell that man is wearing foundation. It was blended to perfection. So I was sold. I've always been curious about the brand, so I broke out of my makeup buy hiatus, went to Sephora and bought it.

So let me break it down for you:

Price: RM 136
Size: 32 ml
Shade: 170 Light (They have 40 shades!)

So I've been trialing the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear foundation for a couple of days. I tested it out at a wedding, I wore it for the church wedding and the dinner. I have dry/combination skin - so I stay away from matte foundation. I prefer a dewy glowy look and anything matte is not good for my dry skin. Safe to say, I was a little weary with the term 'soft matte'.

The foundation is pretty fluid, it is best applied with a foundation brush. Buff it into the skin and you'll get a flawless airbrushed finish. I tried applying it with my fingers - it wasn't that great. Skin looked glowy despite the soft matte finish which I was a little worried about. It photographs beautifully as well. I was taking pictures the entire wedding, so I know. Also, no flashback!

I loved it, it is the perfect foundation for special occasions, for days where you want your skin to look more than perfect. Also, it was longwear-ing indeed. I tried this foundation without concealer for the wedding dinner, it didn't crease around my nose or under my eyes (which happens often). It just didn't budge.

This foundation for me is a winner! Though, I wouldn't wear it everyday, only for special occasions. I like lightweight foundations for an every day look but if you want to look picture perfect all the time, this foundation is definitely a hit!

Sunscreen the most important word of skin care

Did your eyes just glaze over 'sunscreen'? Before I turned 22, I always skipped sunscreen. That's 22 years of sun exposure on my bare skin. It's no wonder I have freckles but I've always learned to embrace them. If you have them, flaunt them right?

Take any skin care products besides sunscreen where there's always a promise of some form of gratification; brighter, glowy skin, reduce appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and etc. Sunscreen is the only product that promises none of that sort. So whether you have it on or off, you'll just look the same. That's because sunscreen is meant to protect our skin.

So if you're skipping sunscreen, here are 5 facts on why you need it!

1. Prevents Premature Aging

A whopping 80 to 90 percent of your skin aging is actually caused by environmental factors. In 2012, Bill McElligott's made international news for sun damage. He was a truck driver for twenty two years and never once wore sunscreen during his drive, so the left side of his face was constantly exposed to the sun. The difference between his right side of his face and his left side were shocking! The left side of his face was saggy, wrinkly and looked twenty years older than his right side of his face. Don't believe Google his name.

2. Protects Us From UV Rays

UV stands for "ultraviolet radiation," which is a form of energy that comes from the sun. Think of UV as a deadly laser that penetrates our skin and causes damage to the skin's cellular DNA. There are two types of UV; UVA and UVB.
  • The A in UVA stands for aging ray. It's not only a cancer creator but it plays a major role in aging because it attacks the collagen in your skin.
  • The B in UVB stands for burning. UVB is the main cause of sunburn and skin cancers.
So it's best to use a sunscreen that contains both UVA and UVB protection. So look out for a sunscreen labeled "broad spectrum protection," which means it has passed the critical wavelength test to protect you from both agin and burning rays. Your welcome.

3. Fights Off Skin Cancer Risk

So now you know that UV rays is one of the main reasons of skin cancer, more reason to wear it everyday to protect yourself from it. You don't want to be at risk of melanoma which is the worst type of skin cancer and is life threatening for women (especially those in their 20s).

4. Enhance Skin's Health

The essential skin proteins, such as collagen, keratin and elastin are required for keeping the skin smooth and healthy. These proteins are protected every time you apply sunscreen. Skin is after all the largest organ in our body, so why aren't you taking care of it again?

5. Helps Maintain an Even Skin Tone

I met a friend at a party once, and I've always envied her skin condition. It's smooth, healthy, glowy and no skin discolouration. It was perfect. You'd think it's foundation but it was not! I asked what was her secret and she told me "Sunscreen!"

So that's that. I hope this scares you into wearing sunscreen because I know I sure regretted not doing it sooner! Oh well, you learn from your mistakes.

A make up declutter

For months and months my vanity table has been a thorn in my sight. I couldn't stand the mess of it all. I could say the same for my study table, my closet and basically the rest of my room... but that's another declutter waiting to happen.

Skincare staples I can’t  live without
Working at Shiseido does come with great perks, such as having a personal usage claim that allows us to claim any Shiseido products we want - within our given allowance of course. I get to indulge myself in best selling face cleansers, moisturisers and serums to find the perfect regime for me. So allow me to introduce my top 5 products from Shiseido that I can't live without...

Future Solution LX Total Regenerating Cream
So this is a little cheat, I got this as a sample in one of our goodie bags that we get annually on every company retreat. I don't use it everyday because it is so precious to me and also because I can't afford it when I run out of it. Whenever I'm lazy at night or I'm traveling, I use this, and it is so hydrating and nourishing on the skin.

Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate
This is a product I've been through multiple times. Every time I put this on my skin, my skin lights up and plumps up. I use this every morning and night, it acts as a booster for any serum or moisturiser you put on after. Not to mention, it's anti-aging as well.

White Lucent Luminizing Surge
This isn't the most moisturising emulsion but I love the way this baby brightens my skin. It keeps my skin pigmentation, dark spots and freckles under control. I'm pretty fair, so anything that evens out my uneven skin tone and prevents it from getting worst is a plus for me.

White Lucent Anti Dark Circles Eye Cream
I was never one for eye creme, I just couldn't be bothered but lately, my dark eye circles have been getting more visible by the day, especially during that time of the month and my eyes would look so tired. So I decided to give this baby a try, I put this on every morning and night and I love it! Now I can't stop using it. It feels so good on under my eyes and I actually can see my dark circles lightening up and eye bags getting less baggy by the day.

Multi-Defence UV Protector
I remember I never used sunscreen until one day a friend who had amazing skin told me how important it was to use sunscreen and I was sold ever since. I've went through a couple of different brands but found that this works best for me. It's light weight and it has SPF 50. When it's sunny outside, my face doesn't feel hot - which is a big plus for me!

So there we have it, 5 products from Shiseido that I can't live without. What are your skincare staples? I would love to know and try them out.

I know the feeling, your alarm clock rings, you struggle to even open your eyes and every day you ask yourself, is your job really worth waking up in the morning? You turn the snooze button on but the thought of the alarm ringing again hangs over you.

It's not that you hate the mornings, you just hate waking up in the morning. Well, here are my little tips to make mornings a little more bearable:

Resolutions for a S'well new year

1. Pack Your Stuff the Night Before
I always pack my stuff the night before, I didn't realise how important this was until I actually started doing it. It is a terrible feeling to wake up and get ready and rush to pack your stuff to work. Feels like you're rushing against time and that's a horrid way to start the day.

2. A Hot Drink is A Life Saver
I stumble to the kitchen first thing in the morning, I'll pick up my cup and make myself a hot glass of green tea, along with two slices of toast bread with peanut butter spread. I set it down on the balcony table before moving my way to the toilet to brush my teeth and wash my face. I head back to the balcony and take a sip of the warm tea and just watch the sky.

A hot drink is a great way to start the day. Sipping my hot tea as I sit idly on my balcony chair, just daydreaming about what to do for the day, or as cliche as it sounds, how great the weather is. It's my little me time.

3. Breakfast - The Most Important Meal of the Day
I take a bite of my peanut butter toast. As simple breakfast goes, I think peanut butter toast is the simplest and laziest meal you can whip up in the kitchen but I don't care. Breakfasts are really important to me even if it's just toast.

Always have breakfast, they start your day right. If you're not into toast, find something that you like. Besides toasts, I like overnight oats as well.

4. Having a Little Me Time
The best thing to do in the morning is having a little me time. I love streaming Youtube videos, or reading a book in the morning. I stay clear of work emails or anything related to work until I'm at the office because it's me time! I'm already spending at least 5 hours a day at work, I can take 30 minutes for myself.

Hope this is helpful! Tell me how you deal with your mornings.

If you're living in Malaysia like me, summer is all day every day. Not that I'm complaining, I get to wear shorts, maxi dresses, and sandals. We don't have to worry about checking the weather, the only thing we check for is the rain but even then it doesn't bother us that much.

Anyway, here are my essentials to look out for this summer:

Image of parisian cotton net bag
Market Shopper Net Bag - simply because they are so pleasing to look at, and it really strums my minimalistic heartstrings. Also, go green!

Basket Bags - When I'm in Bangkok this August, I'm so gonna splurge on these rattan bags because they look so chic and elegant.

White dress - You can never go wrong with a classic white dress for the summer. Everyone talks about owning a little black dress but for me, white is the new black.

nomadic rope sandals.
Rope Slippers - I mean how good will these pair of slippers look paired up with that little white dress, and your little rattan bag or net bag, soaking up the sun on the beach.

Tell me what your summer essentials are...

Ha! Distracted you with a picture of perfectly good french toast.

So today marks the day where I start writing for 100 days straight. Everyday. I've never been very consistent in my life. I've always gotten easily distracted and am always looking for something new and exciting to do. More importantly, I envy people who made their dreams come true by being consistent and patient with their work.

Point is, I love creating content but I'm never consistent with it. So today, I want to challenge myself to writing for 100 days consistently and if there are any readers out there that want to partake in this little challenge yourself because you have a problem with being consistent as well, go ahead. Take up the 100 days of doing something, consistently everyday.

So here goes, 100 days of writing creative content starts now.

Can you ever feel so much love for something you've never experienced before? I can't explain it but every year from September to November, I feel so much love for all things autumnal -- the irony is I've never experienced the autumn weather. I live it vicariously through Pinterest and try to recreate the coziness I would feel if it were Autumn in Malaysia.

Not to mention, it's the rainy season in October which is perfect especially when it rains in the morning, I love it. I desperately try to make myself as cozy as possible and I turn on movies that would remind me of the cool chilly weather we have here. I get snugged under covers with fluffy socks and have myself a hot cup of tea or hot cup of chocolate.

Hello! So I've been meaning to blog for quite a while now but I just haven't had the time to do it. So a little while ago I celebrated my birthday, October 19 (which unfortunately fell on a weekday). Nevertheless, I've always referred to October as my "birthday month" so it really doesn't matter what day it fell on.

Anyway I digressed, this year was the first year Nic was around for my birthday since we got together so he planned a little getaway during the weekend at Sarang by the Brook. If you're anything like me and you love the quiet chill time with a hot cup of tea on one hand and a good book to read on the other. This place is perfect.

We had the best view in the room. There is a variation of small, medium and large rooms. Nic booked the medium room but there was mix up with the booking and we ended having a small room instead (we didn't even know it was the small room) but I believe it was a blessing in disguise because the medium rooms and all the other rooms did not have a view like this.

The owner was extremely apologetic about the mix up, and even wanted to upgrade us to the large room but we decided to stay in our little cozy container. I enjoyed waking up to the sounds of the forest. We could hear the river stream, the birds and crickets chirping. We spent most our time drinking tea, reading books and playing by the pool. We even had our little BBQ session for two by the pool. All the BBQ supplies you need are all provided for for only RM 20 (if you bring your own food), if not they have a BBQ package for those who just want to go and have all the BBQ stuff all prepared and ready for them to BBQ away. You'd also be glad to know that this place has ZERO wifi, knowing that, we intentionally did not bring out laptops with us, so no electronic distractions except for our phones, so we could enjoy each other's company to the fullest.

For all you adventurers out there who loves nature and hiking, Chilling waterfall is just 15 mins drive away. Unfortunately, I'm not one for hiking and I didn't bring anything appropriate to wear for a hike so Nic and I just took a little walk and I enjoyed it very much.

On our last day at Kota Kubu Baru, we took an hour drive to Fraser's Hill and if you love quaint, you'll love Ye Old Smokehouse at Fraser's Hill. Nic and I just spent a couple of hours just sipping tea, enjoying the chilly weather and having some scones and pastries while reading a book. Now that sounds more like me than hiking.

Then, it was time to go home. I cannot thank Nic enough for the wonderful birthday getaway. It was planned so well and he knew exactly what I would like do and where I would like to go. Also, I haven't gotten around to thanking every single one of you for all my birthday wishes and thank those who came for my birthday party. I felt so blessed to be celebrating with both my friends and family in one place. xoxo.

I've been meaning to get some potted friends for quite a while now. I think they really lighten up the room and make it very cozy. My room is very white, the sheets the furniture, anything that I buy for the room, I stick with white, I just think it looks neater. However, I've always felt my room was never cozy enough because of the white theme that I chose for the room. It was missing some colour. So I went to the little plant nursery nearby to pick up some of these babies to cozy up the room and add some colours and life to the room

Aren't they beautiful? I don't exactly know where I'm going to put yet - when that time comes, I'll probably do a little update room tour on this blog. I'm placing it at my shaded balcony at the moment till I find the right place for them in my room.

Today, I woke up and saw them there, I just feel so happy and inspired, I can't wait to have my early morning breakfast or to do my paintings at the balcony.
